About Me

So you found me! Hi and welcome to Cotton-Pickin’ Days version 2.0. I started Cotton-Pickin’ Days 1.0 in November 2003 and have been hooked on blogging and social media ever since.
I’m a Chinese-American expat living in London with my husband and son. Previously, we lived in the U.S., Taiwan, Japan, and Vietnam with frequent trips to Singapore from where my husband hails. I currently work as a biotech consultant and also blog at Eye on DNA.
This personal blog is my wunderkammer or room of wonders on the Web. A place where I record ideas, thoughts, opinions, and many things that cross my cluttered mind. If you’ve got something to add to my wunderkammer, please leave me a comment or e-mail me!
By the way, my domain name Cottontimer is from a Japanese sewing magazine I used to like called Cotton Time. The name of the blog, Cotton-Pickin’ Days, also has a double meaning (to me) because cotton-picking is slang used to indicate annoyance. The adjective cotton-picking was first used in Bugs Bunny and the Looney Tunes cartoons. However, please don’t confuse cotton-picking with cotton picker which is a derogatory term for a black person.
You can reach me at cottontimer@gmail.com.

[...] To my pleasant surprise, Aaron of StyleFeeder contacted me last week and asked to feature me. Never one to pass up free publicity, I took him up on the offer. So if you visit the StyleFeed main page, you’ll see a section called “Featured StyleFeeders.” One of the four pictures is me. (If you’re not sure what I look like, you can check my About Me page. And if you’re visiting after I’ve been bumped off, here’s a screen shot.) Even more cool is the feature Aaron wrote about me. [...]
Can you tell me where I could order cotton times magazine? I did go to the link you have on this page, but of course I can not read the page or even find a translation button. That is what I get for not studying harder in school. thanks Holly
Holly: Welcome! I take it you studied Japanese? You could try eBay or order directly from Amazon.co.jp.
