To be honest, I’m not even sure if those people are Singaporean or not. There is such an incredible mix of people here.

Hi, I am from Singapore and have been in and out of your blogs. I would just like to gently point out that this place where we are living in has lots of foreign talents and imports. I would be hopping mad if I am you as well. This entry seem to be implying that Singaporeans are uncouth, ungracious which I would not mind as much if it is written by a fellow Singaporean. Sorry. Just trying to get it off my chest. And yes, we do have a very bad habit of appreciating other people’s babies through touching. *smack hand* I experienced that with my two kids too.

Wow, my impression of Singapore was always of a much more civilized society – but by your description, it sounds just like the U.S.! I guess my connotation of clean with nice is incorrect… I also didn’t know there were any fat people in Singapore!

Uh oh…I come from that ‘fine’ country, have to admit that I ain’t proud of how some Sporeans can be.

After a while, I become numb to rudeness and non civic mindedness. My way to deal with it…I try to avoid crowded places as much as I can.

#1 happens all the time here, esp in Costcos where the aisles are wide enough for more than one cart! At first it was mostly in Marin county where people seemed to be more self-absorbed, but now it’s happening more often here in Sonoma county too. They may not say “bitch” (or maybe they do, under their breaths), but they give you a dirty look as though you’re in the wrong because you’d like to get through the aisle they’re blocking.

#2 sucks. It’s too bad the mother acted that way, so her son probably thinks that it’s perfectly all right to ram into people who aren’t even blocking his way.
