I'm sure most parents have their moments of frustration with their children's schools. Once upon a time I dallied with the idea of homeschooling but have come to realize after two years of experience with local London public schools that the school environment can teach Stephen more about the "real world" than I ever could within the cozy confines of our home and the social circles we travel in. No situation is perfect but we'll make the best of it! There's no question that Stephen and his soon-to-be-born sibling will have it better than most in many respects and for that we are very grateful.

PS Very funny about the 50bn moms. I guess the power of moms is so strong that it feels like we can overwhelm the 6 1/2 billion world population, eh?

I watched these videos shortly after I decided to homeschool and they kind of vindicated my decision (think I'm always on the lookout for confirmation bias!). Hsien, looks like you (and along with the 50bn mums out there like me) have some misgivings about school. Frankly, I haven't decided if I can hack homeschooling for the long term. This alternative sounds kinda tough too. But there are days when I think - better it be tough for him than for me ...
