LOL I thought the mother was SOOOO irritating and I wanted to slap Colin but he’s still one of my favorite actors. Jennifer Ehle didn’t annoy me as much because she reminds me of Meryl Streep who I love.

Now I want to see the new one but I must confess that Keira Knightly scares me because she’s so bony!!

I know; I’ve heard that before! But go watch the new one, and then see if you can stand the old one. The mother’s performance in particular stands out as annoying, and Colin Firth plays Mr. Darcy like a sadistic psychopath, while MacFadeyn plays him with an air of vulnerability that is just so, so sweet. And Kiera does a pretty good job with Elizabeth, not like that always grinning Jennifer.

Part of is just that the BBC production is not as lush as the new one, of course. I wrote a lot about P&P on my blog when it came out, and have visited most of the locations.

I didn’t see that version of P&P until after I saw the film version, with Mathew MacFadyen and Kiera Knightly, and I was so disappointed. (I couldn’t even watch the whole thing.) The acting in the newer version is so much better, all around.

If you haven’t seen it, get it right now and start ironing.

Clare, I’m wondering wha tI should watch after P&P because it has to be something where I don’t have to watch the show as much as listen to it. Previously, I was listening to NPR podcasts but those aren’t long enough.

BTW, incentives are supposed to be verrry baaad too. I’ll let you know what the solution is but I’m guessing I won’t like it. HA

Yes, I sometimes reward myself by watching something on the TV when I’m ironing – something like P&P that none of the males in the household can stand. But now I’m thinking after reading the rest of your post that maybe ‘reward’ is the wrong word…maybe it is incentive…and is there, in fact, a difference?
