Parenting Rants

Actor Ben Stiller and I have the same parenting strategy. Here he is describing it on the Jay Leno Show:
Or I’ll just go to a bad place with it too. Like [Ella] will get in a fight with [Quin] and I’ll take away the toy, and she’ll say, ‘That’s not fair,’ and I’ll just go right into, ‘Life is not fair. Bad things happen to good people. Welcome to the world!’
My other favorite parenting rants include:
-
In response to the “why do I have to do everything” whine - You think you have to do everything? Let me tell you everything I have to do!
-
In response to the “it’s boring!” whine - I don’t care if it’s boring you still have to do it!
-
In response to the “I don’t wanna go to school” whine - I went to school for more than 20 years. You can darn well go to school for 1 more day.
What kind of parenting rant do you launch into?
Just for fun, here’s a video of Ben Stiller as Tom Crooze on SNL’s spoof of Celebrity Jeopardy.

If your comment doesn't show up immediately, it's probably in moderation. I will approve it as soon as I can! Thanks for your patience.

I have taken more salt that you have eaten rice in your whole life, so listen to me!!
LOL Ok Ok! I’ll listen to you!!
Ha. I saw him on Leno, too! It cracked me up when he was talking about his technical ineptitude when it came to uploading things on Facebook. I had to look him up there, then.
My rant, “No more whining!!!! If you guys can’t talk without whining, then there will be no talking! I’m tired of the whining!!!!!”
I don’t know how you do it with more than one!!
I think mine must be “That’s IT!!! I’ve HAD ENOUGH!” because I caught my middle child saying that dramatically to his little brother the other day, in the midst of a blocks and train tracks game that kept being uncooperative with him.
I pity my teen, because he gets the hourS-long rants about the state of society, the state of politics, the state of education, the state of the class system, or whatever might vaguely relate to the initial irritation. LOL He’s learning not to irritate me.
And Ben Stiller is really funny
