I rarely end up using the coupons. If I buy huggies, they give me coupons for pampers. If I buy pampers, they give me coupons for huggies! Buy dog food brand A, get coupon for brand B, etc. We've decided that the companies are probably paying for a 'keyword' type scan of your shopping list and giving you coupons for their items when they see you bought something similar. If you already bought their product, no coupon, because they want you to pay full price! Plus, there are times that everyone gets the same coupons, clearly someone is running a special! I've never before, or never since, had it spit me out something that was clearly targeted at me, but not at my current shopping list! Honestly, I'd *love it* if they'd analyze my shopping and send me coupons for the stuff I already buy!

Oooh. That's very interesting!! I bet the whole science behind determining who gets what coupon is fascinating. Must go do some totally pointless research....

For YEARS I assumed my shopper card was watching me, but never really doing anything out of the ordinary as far as singling me out as a shopper. I'd get the usual discounts, posted 'point' specials, etc but never anything that didn't seem related to my current shopping trip. Until a few months ago, when I popped in to buy dog food and it spit out a coupon for Gyne-lotrimin! And yes, I had been battling a long term yeast issue and had been buying it there, then switched to the pharmacy across the street because it was having a huge sale as it changed names/brands! I guess the grocery store missed my monthly $20 purchase and wanted me back!

Probably a lot, because I don't get any! I refuse to sign up for store cards on principle. The principle being that I hate to carry extra cards.
