I’m Cutting You Off

A teenager was taken to hospital after overdosing on espresso coffee.
Jasmine Willis, 17, developed a fever and began hyperventilating after drinking seven double espressos while working at her family’s sandwich shop.
Ms Willis, who had thought the coffees were single measures, said the effects were so severe that she began laughing and crying for no reason while serving customers at the shop.
One of the coffee shops I used to frequent in Baltimore had huge cups that could have doubled as soup bowls. I was so intrigued by them that I thoughtlessly ordered one, drank it all down, and was wired and somewhat panicky feeling all day. I still remember lying on my bed a few hours later wondering why I felt so anxious then realizing that a huge cup like that could only mean that it contained at least a triple shot of espresso.
What’s the most amount of caffeine you’ve ever imbibed at one time?

Well, at least it wasn’t single servings of crack cocaine … I guess. I drink 2 pots a day now … at my peak, I would drink an MX on the way to work in the morning and drink non-stop through the day. What is an MX you ask? Remember the old MX Missle system of the 80’s? Well, you take a stainless steel thermos, pour in 10 shots of espresso and top it off with Chocolate syrup. M = Mocha, X = 10. Missile fuel in a missile shaped stainless steel cylinder. I wonder where my youth went.
“at least it wasn’t single servings of crack cocaine”
A little cynical are we?
I have definitely never heard of anything resembling an MX. Was there any milk in that?! Deadly….
I used to order the grande iced americanos at Starbucks until I realized that they also contained 3 shots of espresso. I could handle that at the time but now, I think it would kill me.
Erik, on the other hand, has been known to drink a quad espresso in one sitting.
Oh! Grandes have 3 shots too?!?! I think I used to get them when I was still in the States. Nowadays, I order the smallest size available no matter where I go. Living in Asia for so many years has made me a little fearful of cups big enough to fit on my head!
Seriously, I used to be able to drink the strong stuff all day long and be fine. Now if I have more then 2 in one morning I’m a jittery mess. Old age sucks.
“the strong stuff”
We’re talking about coffee here not some other somewhat elicit substance unsuitable for morning consumption!!!
