That’s terrible! Gives a whole new definition to “made in China”…
I’ve been on a “learn more about China” kick because I’m trying to figure out if my pessimism is well-founded or not. Reports like this certainly don’t bolster my confidence.
Faking the fakes … sounds like a lot like the ‘Fake but accurate’ riff to me. It’s not unique to China.
I was just told that they may have used the reporter as a scapegoat. Trying to cover up the truth with accusations. Eek!!
this news made it here. i too am skeptic if it is really fake. meanwhile, other food products from China now in Philippines market have been found to have formaldehyde. i’ve always been “scared” of anything edible made in China. but i used to love those white rabbit candies with edible white wrappers. now they’re being recalled in the market by our local FDA.
Next thing you know we’ll have to be growing our own food!
Yeah, right.
I have heard about enough detention of Chinese journalists and been part of the human rights struggle there to know that they don’t arrest them for lying. They arrest them for telling the truth and torture them until they recant.
Anything goes in China…except maybe the truth.
yeah! i can eat steamed buns again
a beijing friend once told me that the only thing ‘real’ is the hair they make to make wigs! ironic isn’t it. real hair for fake hair
