Kicking Curious George Out of the House

There is something wrong with Curious George. Actually, I blame his caregiver – The Man With The Yellow Hat (TMWTYH).
Here we have an obviously untrained monkey who’s left alone for hours a day, free to roam the house and anywhere else he chooses. Of course he gets into mischief! It’s no wonder a gang hasn’t adopted him and set him up for a life of crime. But does TMWTYH care? Does he even notice?
TMWTYH leaves with a smile and says, “Stay out of trouble, George.” And when he comes back to chaos, he just smiles and acts like nothing’s a big deal – not the hamburgers George made out of dirt and substituted for real ones which almost drives a chef out of business; not the mountain of dirt in a pond that George deposited with a huge dump truck certainly leading to dead aquatic wildlife; not the train schedule board that George messes up causing chaos in a busy station. None of it makes TMWTYH stop and think:
Hmmm, maybe I should hire a babysitter for George.
Or better yet:
Hmmm, maybe a monkey really doesn’t make a good autonomous pet.
Stephen thinks George is hilarious and is just “very curious.” But I think George is an utterly annoying, badly behaved role model and should be banned!
What do you think of Curious George and TMWTYH?

Actually, monkeys make terrible pets, period. Not that I blame Curious George for making people think they make good pets.
Children make terrible pets too! heh
I haven’t really given much thought recently as to my opinion on Curious George, but I do know that you crack me up. :p
How can you laugh when there are monkeys running around creating havoc?!
Curious George and “Man A Yellow Hat” as he’s known in our house, are two very irrisponsible folks.
And may I also add that his themesong, played overandoverandover and over again, is obnoxious. “Upside down” indeed, GEORGE.
Krissy, I have thus far been able to shut my ears to the theme song although of course now I have it dancing in my head. *kick*
We love Curious George. I had a lot of the books as a kid, and my sons have a lot of the books, as well as watching the PBS cartoon.
He is indeed a very naughty monkey, but the kids know that being naughty gets you in trouble, even if you try to blame a cartoon monkey or your big brother.
Some of Stephen’s favorite stories are Curious George ones! I can see why it appeals to the little ones but I can’t help but want to call CPS on TMWTYH.
I loved CG & so did the darling daughter. I don’t think he’s a bad role model (in the books as I remember) as all comes right in the end.
I also loved the wordless “Good Dog Carl” books — Carl is a Rottweiler who is left in charge of a baby. Now in real life that would be insane, but in picture books, not so much.

I remember when their biography came out. I should read it to see what kind of psychopaths would come up with a storyline like this. I’m also curious to know more about why TMWTYH has a yellow fetish.
As a child, I loved Curious George. As a parent, I don’t find him very amusing. However, I’m surprised that he doesn’t get into more serious trouble considering that he can’t even speak! LOL!
The new version of Curious George does appear to have him “oo oo ah ah” in intelligible tones. I should ask Stephen if he can understand George….
