Bald Man: I talk a lot about bacteria, viruses, and parasites to get Stephen to wash his hands properly. :D

Joan: Hi!! I am always amazed at how practical you. I'm glad you started updating AskGoodJoan.com. I'll have to dig around and see what I can link to for Play Library. :)

They aren't showing them wash the entire time, so maybe they've been taught to wash properly and they did the backs and fingers too. I like the idea of it, the same way I liked the toothbrush that lit up for the proper amount of time for brushing. It didn't tell them to brush in the back but it at least got them used to the appropriat eamount of time to take to do it all. Mom gets to reinforce the smaller rules afterwards, brush in the back, wash between your fingers, wash behind your ears, never tuck your shirt into your underpants, etc.

Personally, I just washed my hands with the kids, singing the alphabet song to get the right time. They sang along and mimicked my handwashing so thet learned to wash their fingers and the backs too!

Between the fingers seems easier to teach and enforce if you emphasize the fact they get to make bubbles when they squish their fingers together. Easier... but not easy.
