Granoli

Barbie lovers are taking offense to my characterization of their dolly in a review I wrote for Play Library about the Fashion Angels.
They quoted me as saying,
…they are well made and perky rather than trashy (Bratz) and not so provocative (Barbie). Their wardrobe is amazing - glitter, sequens, and leopard print trims all sturdily tailored for endless changes of ensemble.
And they continued in response,
What planet is that person living on? Laughing [emoticon] I’ll bet that woman doesn’t allow her child to watch television, and makes her eat granola and tofu! LOL! Laughing [emoticon]
Granola and tofu? YUM!!!

I’m still waiting for my granola and tofu parfait. You didn’t let S eat it, did you? He’s so spoiled.
You mean they don’t realize Barbie is provicative? Oh dear.
er, provOcative?
Kerri: I forgot to share with everyone what you said in response!
Sheila: I could see you with your eyebrow arched. hehe
They’re just upset because you maligned their childhood delights, heh. Barbie may have undergone a few cosmetic changes over the years, but she still looks mostly the same. And the outfits sold for Barbie over the years have always included sexy little short-shorts etc.
The hardest thing for a parent to find for their child who is too old/not interested in babydolls, is a sweet and mostly-modest fashion doll that reflects a more normal body shape.
I would still buy Barbies for girls though, while I wouldn’t touch Bratz et al even if they were free. Sleazy doesn’t begin to describe them.
You outed me and my snarkiness. Now no one will think I’m such a kind, innocent sweetheart.
