Podcast Woman
Posted by Cottontimer on 25 Jan 2007 | Tagged as: Knick Knacks
Peace and quiet are fairly uncommon in my everyday life so in the rare moments when I’m out running errands, I relish the opportunity to let my mind wander. Well, no longer.
Marv got me the SanDisk Sansa e260 MP3 Player while on a business trip to Singapore and I am going to be podcast woman! So far, I’ve used Windows Media Player to rip a Carrie Underwood CD to MP3 and and downloaded the following podcasts:
- Grammar Girl
- The Naked Scientists Internet Science Radio Show
- NPR: All Songs Considered
- NPR: Health & Science
- New Scientist
- Women’s Bioethics Project: The Scientist & The Ethicists (as soon as they figure out how to put up mp3 files instead of m4a)
What podcasts do you listen to?
Update: I’ve created a permanent page of recommended podcasts.

Ooh, some good choices and ideas for me there!
I listen to the Naked Scientist, too. And Nature, New Scientist and NPR: Science Friday.
Cocoen: Oh, yes, how could I have forgotten Nature and New Scientist? I’ll add them to the list as well.
I think I may have to create a page of recommended podcasts.
This American Life
Wait Wait…don’t tell me
Tavis Smiley
I need to find some comedy podcasts or something! I need to laugh at the end of the day.
Coffee Break Spanish
The Writer’s Almanac
NPR: Story of the Day
NPR: World Story of the Day
And now I’ve got a few to add for us.
Ooh, I haven’t figured out podcasts yet. I have bookmarked your page so I can start there. Thanks!
The Ricky Gervais Show.
I was listening to the Thanksgiving special when I was on the bus the other day, and I started laughing so hard, that now a whole bunch of fellow commuters think I am crazy.
I had to de-plug and explain what I was listening to, but because I was still laughing (and by this point crying as well), it just came out as gibberish. One guy at least knew what I was talking about….so he is now a semi kindred spirit.
Thanks, Kerri and Bald Man. Those are some good ones.
laura: I don’t understand how to download the Ricky Gervais show. I know some are for pay but the free ones…where are the mp3 files aside from iTunes?
Sheila: Let me know what you end up listening to! At this rate, I may have to take more walks. A good thing.
i found the free ones on itunes, but i will check with a friend of mine who introduced them to me, he will hook you up (he is a fan of this blog….so i am sure he will do it for you).
i loved the free ones so much that I bought the Karl Pilkington diary/book. I think its called Ricky Gervais presents the World of Karl Pilkington. Its essentially a transcript of the podcasts. In case one can’t understand their accents….as they speak english.

Hey there,
I just stumbled upon your cool blog when I searched on sansa e260 and podcasts. You sound like an interesting person. I know this is an older post of yours but we have this in common…. Like you, I have a sansa e260 and I’m really heavily into podcasts. Would you mind telling me your method of getting the podcasts onto your player? I had been using Itunes agent for a while but more recently I switched to just doing drag and drop from Itunes to the device file using Windows Explorer. What’s your method? Thanks. Susan
