Donna: I love the idea of using old Christmas trees as a base for bird feed. I don’t have any problems with using live trees for Christmas. They smell so nice. But I did think it was sad to see them discarded out on the sidewalk.

Smitha: Good observation! They don’t paint zebra stripes here! Sometimes the pedestrian crossing is painted red or something. I’ll take a picture this week if I get the chance.

Abigail: I bought a bag of 7 on Sunday and Marv said it was going to be too many. I only have 2 left now.

LG: I saw so many that day. It must have been tree collection day. They looked so forlorn.

Lilian: My mom asked the same! Stephen says that’s Marv’s hair. Funny because it’s nothing like what it really looks like. hehehe

We used an artificial tree this year, too. I felt so much better when it was time to take down. A discarded Christmas tree looks so sad just lying on the street like that!

The houseboats picture is great. I love the detail in Stephen’s portrait!

In my city, if you get your tree out on the treelawn by a certain date, a truck gathers them all to be turned into mulch. We’ve also put the old ones in the backyard sometimes as a place for birds to roost in winter. When we are really productive, we decorate it with food for birds and squirrels. I do love having a real tree, but realize there is potential for waste so try and do things to minimilize it.
