Breastfeeding Belongs on Planes

Breastfeeding Mother Kicked off Commercial Airplane
I have done my fair share of nursing on planes and have NEVER even gotten a sideways look from anyone. I’ve often worn nursing shirts, tucked a pillow under my arm as a screen, had Marv hold up a blanket for me, or simply done nothing except hunch over in my seat a little and turn towards the window. Thank goodness no one has ever suggested I refrain from breastfeeding Stephen or I would have had to punch their lights out or better yet, sue their pants off just as Emily Gillette and her family are doing. Go Emily!!

Just curious, You’re still nursing?
Nope. Stephen weaned several months ago.
So how long was it in total? I only made it to 16 months when Elli weaned.
I’d say last nip taken just before 48 months.
I’ve heard about this story and I can’t believe it! What I really can’t believe is that the Flight Attendant was able to get the whole crew to side with her to kick the Mother off the plane!
I’m glad they’re suing. That is outrageous. I nursed my daughter on landing and takeoff and sometimes in-between on every flight we took with her before she weaned. It was either that or a screaming child. Which would our flight-neighbors have preferred, I wonder?
Although my BF days were over 15 years ago, this story so fried my chops I emailed Delta customer service.
No response.
As my dad would have said, jeezly-pete, you put Maxim in the the magazine rack, but bump a discrete breast-feeder?
kailani: Does it take a consensus? It sounds like the pilot and copilot agreed to kick them off. Grrr.
I remember a flight once where this woman got kicked off for mouthing off. It was a tiring day with lots of delays and I guess the flight attendant just couldn’t take another person complaining about them.
river2sea72: Clearly, screaming is preferable. A**holes.
Liz: Way to go! I’m sure they’re getting flooded. I don’t necessarily blame the company for the actions of a few, but it’s good that this is bringing about greater awareness.
As for Maxim, I never get to grab the only copy on board.
Oh, and Liz, doesn’t BF usually mean boyfriend? For a split second I thought that was what you were referring to.
