Three Year Anniversary Lottery
Posted by Cottontimer on 13 Nov 2006 | Tagged as: More blogging

Three years ago this week, I started my LiveJournal with Jean’s encouragement. Since then, I’ve begun blogging professionally and moved to my own domain at cottontimer.com. Three years in blogland is like thirty years in real time. So it feels like I’ve been blogging all my life!
To celebrate, I’ll be giving away TWO t-shirts from London to TWO randomly-selected people who leave comments in this post at cottontimer.com telling me something cool that happened to you this year. I’ll select the winners on Sunday, November 19.
Can’t wait to hear more about your year.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you all for visiting. I appreciate every single one of you for making me feel like an active member of this earth.
NB: The t-shirt above won’t be the actual one I give away. I’ll be sure to send you something tasteful and in your size.

Cool thing of the year- going to Isak Dinesen’s house in Nairobi. I have dreamed of living in her house since I was a child, and I got to go walk through and pretend Robert Redford was about to sweep me off my feet.
3 years is like … what, 99 in internet years?
Damn, I just aged a month typing this.
Something cool happened to me this year. I began (finally) settling back into my own country, re-learning the good things of the not-so-exotic not-so-far-away. It’s slow, and often dull, but I got to vote for local representatives and I almost (but not quite) feel like I maybe sort of belong. At the very least, I don’t *obviously* stand out (until I open my mouth). Of course, along with this, I learned how much I love living someplace diverse and international, but it’s all part of the same package.
I met you this year! That was pretty cool (do I get a nice non-pink shirt just for sucking up?
) Actually, I started blogging this year (May), and that was pretty fun. I love the outlet, I love that I earn a few quid for it (is that what you Londoners say?), and I can’t believe how many cool people I’ve met through blogging. Love it.
Congratulations on your three-year blogiversary!
I guess the coolest thing that happened to me this year was that my first book was published. Even though the publisher decided my name wasn’t worthy of even being on the cover (it’s in small print on the back of the title page), it was still a fascinating experience, showing me the business side of writing and publishing.
And I’d love a T-shirt from London. A far cry from rural west Georgia!
Congratulations on your 3 year anniversary! The cool thing that happened to me this year besides watching up my son grow up into an assertive toddler is that I managed to finally turn in my dissertation to the committee and am now awaiting the defense on Dec 4! That would be the coolest day!
I know I lurk and never comment and all but how can I resist? I’ve been reading you since your LJ and come on, London. I mean seriously.
So…I got married. =) And I signed the lease for my first apartment (our first, really, since he’s never lived on his own either) today. (Excited!!!! Details at my LJ…if you’re interested.) And…oh, you said *one* thing. Heh. Oops.
We bought our very first house! Which is both cool and terrifying, ahaha.
What’s happened in the past year that has been good to us?
Brian finally passed his journeyman’s Electrician test on the 8th try. If that’s not the best freaking news I don’t know what is! (for our family anyway!)
Congrats for three years!!
The cool thing that happened this year is that I am done with my MBA and my institutional educational pursuits for a while!! yippeeee!!
I had to undergo brain surgery without the option of chemotheraphy…..I identified myself as manic depressive…Fortunately, it is over and I am going to get “a new hair do” sometimes this weekend to celebrate the so called “LIFE”…
Have a great week,
sbn
Obviously, the coolest thing is that I started AutismVox thanks to someone who helps make the blogosphere go round………. and Jim put together his Autism and Advocacy conference, which was beyond tremendous.
And Charlie liked school again.
coolest thing…living in beijing!! haha…seriously, my life here seems like a sharp contrast from yours. over in beijing, everything is dirt-cheap and nobody queues up. from your london stories, everything is expensive and everyone queues up. haha
I spent an entire winter in Canada, it was very cool. Very cold even, at times

Kristina: I don’t know what the autism community would do without you and Jim. I’m proud to know you.
laurina: Yes, I’d have to agree that London and Beijing seems worlds apart. But both can be mighty crowded and dirty too.
Am?lie: I’m looking forward to seeing some snow this year in the UK!
coolest thing to happen this year… hearing my littlest boy say “twinkle twinkle little star” after almost a week away from me. Also, hearing God speak to me v. v. clearly twice within the last two months.
congrats on your 3rd year in the blogosphere! I’m still plugging away at my blog. LOL!
ok here goes…
something really cool that happened to me this year is quitting my day job and going fulltime problogger. does that count?
anyways, happy 3rd blog anniversary. i wish you 30 years more.
Jo: It’s lovely to hear from you!
Gloria: It certainly does count! Please don’t curse me with another 30. lol
Three years?
Blimey, well done. I didn’t even realise blogging was that old.
I’m impressed.
William: Yes indeedy. You’re probably not that old yourself. Perhaps you were still in diapers three years ago.
Something cool? Hmmm . . . I got to meet Eva Longoria on a flight. That was cool.
We brought home Baby Bug from the hospital for the first time after birth. We were told we couldn’t conceive, so that was pretty cool.
I went back to work after a 2 year personal leave. I love my job so that was REALLY cool!
And of course, I was introduced to blogging. Very cool!
