The last time my child(ren)…
Posted by Cottontimer on 31 Jul 2006 | Tagged as: Memes and Quizzes, Motherhood, Parenting, Stephen
A parenting meme of sorts from the September 2006 issue of Supernanny magazine (Cory, I’ll be sending it to you as soon as I get back to California).
The last time my child(ren)…
…made me laugh?
When Stephen said after eating a bowl of broccoli, “I’m a cow. I ate some grass. Milk me!”
When he didn’t complain at all today on our visit to the London Natural History Museum, walked a fair bit, and had the bravery to go into the dinosaur exhibit with the animatronic T. rex.
…had a tantrum?
He had a bit of a cow when we got home from the museum because I had a stomachache and needed to go to the bathroom RIGHT AWAY. He was in dire need of a popsicle refreshment.
…said they loved you?
Whenever I’ve done something nice for him like get him a snack or bring some of his toys down. “Mama, I like you.” (Close enough!)
…learned something new?
He’s a drawing fiend right now and can draw the most amazing depictions of his favorite robots and space vehicles. Check out these that he drew on the bathroom tile with bath crayons. (I’ll be featuring more at Play Library later this week.)

…embarassed you?
At his classmate’s house last week, he mimicked me when I said, “What the heck!” I would have been even more mortified if he’d cursed. Better watch my mouth.
…made you cry?
When he wouldn’t stop saying “I don’t like you!” Thankfully, it’s been a while since he’s done that!
…made you feel guilty?
When he went off quietly to play after I pushed him away so I could finish doing what I was doing for the moment. It’s the considerate thing to do, but I can’t help feeling guilty that I couldn’t attend to him right away. Not that I should jump when he says jump but I think mothers always have that impulse.

I’m interested to see you reading Supernanny. Do you like her? I can’t say I’m too keen (though she unfailingly makes me laugh with her “strict” posturing on the programme introduction) - though to be fair it could be the programme’s editing I don’t like, I haven’t read her book or magazines (which i don’t suppose she actually writes).
I actually bought it for Cory who blogs at http://www.SupernannyRules.com. I probably won’t buy the magazine again because it’s the same old stuff all parenting magazines have but there quite a few interesting tidbits. If someone gave me a free subscription, I’d definitely go through it every month.
and had the bravery to go into the dinosaur exhibit with the animatronic T. rex.
We had that same exhibit at our Natural History museum in Albuquerque last year — Sadie loved it, especially the part where you got to look “through” a T. rex’s eyes.
At his classmate?s house last week, he mimicked me when I said, ?What the heck!?
Hahaha! Sadie says that all the time. LOL! Little parrots
Stephen cracks me up! I left my answers to these here: http://mynameismommy.com/2006/08/01/when-was-the-last-time/
river2sea72: That was our 4th visit to the Natural History Museum and he finally worked up the courage to go in. He is so slow to warm up!!
Kerri:
Your answers are hilarious as always.
