Anyone for tea at The Berkeley Hotel London Caramel Room?
Pr?t-?-Portea is a new concept in afternoon tea. It has been designed to add a creative twist to the classic elements of the traditional English afternoon tea, with the cakes and pastries inspired by the latest fashion season?s catwalk designs for the style conscious and with savouries in miniature mouthfuls for the figure conscious.

Pret-?-Portea is served in the Caramel Room at The Berkeley from 3-6pm everyday priced at ?31 per person. (?39.50 including a glass of champagne, or alternatively for the fashion conscious, ?46 per person including a glass of couture champagne).
What the heck is couture champagne?!

I was wondering that myself - go check it out and come back and tell me! And send me one of those cute cookies!!!
Christina: I’m waiting for you to go with me, oh beauty diva.
At that price, the teensy nibbles and couture champagne had better be FABULOUS. *boggles*
Deb: Perhaps the people watching would be worth it. Not that I’ll ever get to assess the value of this afternoon tea in person.
coutre vs non-
i’m not sure, but i’m guessing it has to do with brand and vintage. e.g. krug is coutre, and a specific vintage dated bottle would have more character then a non-vintage (not from 1 year) bottle
enoch: Hey, you smarty pants. I say you bring over a few bottles of champagne and teach us the real difference.
the pastries really look cute. i want it to taste as good as it looks! have you tried it yet?
Hi, since you are a fellow mummy, was wondering if you might be able to advise me on the matter of bringing my one year old daughter to tea while on vacation in London, would it be acceptable or would I get rude stares/denied seating? She is extremely well behaved/mild mannered and I am very careful to ensure fellow diners are not disturbed, do you think I could try to enjoy a tea while we are there and bring her along?
Michelle: Hi! Thanks for dropping by. Both afternoon tea houses and pubs vary with respect to their acceptance of young children. Some even have family areas where you can escape the cigarette smoke.
Here’s one place near Kew Gardens which is lovely for both parents and kids. A review from The New York Times:
If you go, be sure to go to Kew Gardens so that you can visit the Climbers Creepers playground.
Have fun!
imp: Oops! Sorry I missed you up there. Thanks for your comment! I haven’t had the chance to go but at the price tag, I probably won’t ever.
