Crying Baby, Squeaking Toy
Posted by Cottontimer on 08 Jun 2006 | Tagged as: Kids, Parenting
As I’m sitting here blogging away, my next door neighbor is frantically squeaking some sort of rubber toy in an attempt to get their new baby to stop crying.
Squeak squeak squeak.
Squawk squawk squawk.
Some half-hearted singing.
Baby alternately wailing and gurgling.
Squeak squeak squeak.
Squawk squawk squawk.
From the sounds of it, the little one is just a few months old.
Wish I could knock on the door and tell them to read what Kate said at Babylune - It’s Not You.

Those poor parents.
Maybe you could write the URL on a card and slip it under their door?
Ok. I’ll write babylune’s url on a piece of paper, wrap it around a rock and toss it through her window
Oh gosh. That squeaky toy noise would drive me NUTS, about as bad as those little dogs that barkbarkbark all the time.
rock through the window… LOL! how about an invite to go on a walk with the kids?
I think I would be torn, not wanting to intrude and point out how their walls aren’t exactly sound proof, and wanting to go knock and ask if I could help. It sounds like mom might could use a few moments to go to the bathroom and splash a little water on her face while someone else holds the baby for a minute. I know you can’t always make baby stop crying, but moms feel the need to at least be trying *something* to help. Nature wired that into us long long ago. Personally, I think the squeeky toy is probably CAUSING the problem, those things are highly annoying! She shold try the vaccum instead!
Deb: I’ve never met them before and don’t even know if it’s a nanny who’s caring for the baby or the mother herself. Lots of nannies in our area….
Joan: I tend to be a busybody too and was hoping the woman would look out the window which she did for a second but not enough for me to catch her eye. The entrance to their apartment is on the opposite side of the building. I can hear her because our windows face each other. I was thinking maybe my vacuuming might help her out. LOL
