Still in Dial-Up Hell
Posted by Cottontimer on 30 May 2006 | Tagged as: London
Since I signed up for Wanadoo/Orange Wireless & Talk over three months ago, I’ve experienced nothing but trouble. After more than two months of no broadband at all, I’ve decided that I need to start documenting this publicly EVERY DAY. So, from now until I either get my broadband reinstated or switch to a new ISP (which I’m working on), I’ll be putting a little tag on all my entries counting the days and hoping to put myself on the Web listed high in searches for Wanadoo/Orange broadband troubles.
It has been 2 months and 2 days since I lost my Wanadoo/Orange provided broadband in London, UK.
Update: I know I’m not the only one but Trevor Gay at Simplicity also documented his experience.

Can you get Blueyonder broadband there? We’ve used BT (ick), Freeserve (now Wanadoo — double ick), and Demon (not as crap as the rest but still ick). We made the switch to cable and haven’t looked back. We are far happier with this product.
gracefruit: Thanks for the recommendation! I just checked and we’re not within Blueyonder’s service area. *sob*
ummm…I would completely not move to UK, just because of this problem!!
seriously…. how do you survive? India is faster these days! Are you sure you landed in a developed nation?!
How about NTL? Telewest?
Smitha: Yeah, I am seriously NOT impressed. Grrr.
gracefruit: Telewest is where I checked. Will look into NTL…. WAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.
I hope the power of blogging helps you through this and Wanadoo to better service.
I’m about going to join you in dial-up or, more likely, running to Starbucks if I get T-Mobile. Have you sent Wanadoo your blog address?

Kate: At the very least, it’ll definitely prove the power of the Internet.
Kristina: Awww. I suppose I’ve still been able to get stuff done on dial-up but it is hard for an impatient person like me. Hope you still have high speed access at work. I haven’t sent Wanadoo my blog address directly but I think it was forwarded as a part of an email I sent to the ISP Association UK.
[...] Consider again the date her dial-up started… 29th March. What’s today? 1st June. Still no broadband. End of May Hsien launched her blog campaign addressing this issue. She’s had a ray of hope shine onto this situation, but who knows how many other people have still heard nothing and are in internet hell/limbo. [...]
[...] So, 2 months, 3 weeks, and 2 days after we lost broadband because of problems with Wanadoo/Orange, we now have BT broadband. It took less than 30 minutes to set-up with far less hassle than what we had to do with the Wanadoo/Orange Livebox router. The BT router is also about one-third the size! What a thrill to see everything installed and running smoothly. I never experienced the same with Wanadoo/Orange. [...]
Orange Broadband nightmare from hell
This was my last email to Orange Broadband.
Today is the 21st of April. And I am still waiting for my call back that was promised to me at least 10 times. I am on dial-up. The dial up you so politely went and cut off, because you have connected my broadband, ha ha ha
You must have connected at your house because I do not have broadband.
I have still not had 1 day of broadband, wireless or any kind of service that I signed up for on the 22 of March and paid for on the 28th of March and was told I would be connected on the 5th
Now don’t tell me to contact customer?s services to technical service.
I have spent a fortune on phone calls to them and all I get is promises.
I was cut off from my orange dial up and when I phoned I was told I would have to start a new contract. I signed up with Tascali because I refuse to pay you one more cent by going into another contract with you.
You are a nightmare from hell
Why not do the decent thing and cancel my contract, admit that you are useless and refund all my money.
You have not kept up to your side of the contract of supplying me with broadband. So please just let me out of this contact you that I can go to a reputable company to give me what I sign up for
Thanking you
Patricia edsell
Patricia: So sorry to hear about your hellish situation. I never got a refund from Wanadoo-Orange either to the tune of a couple hundred pounds. Thank goodness that’s all past me now. Good luck to you!!
