Pink and White

Pink is the “in” color for men in London this Spring. Marv first noticed the trend at his office where two guys were wearing pink on the same day. Since then, I have seen at least one guy wearing pink on any given day and over the weekend, saw two guys both wearing pink entering the house opposite us for an afternoon get-together. Then there’s the pink tie too. I’ll go blind if I see another group of men all wearing pink.
The lemming-like behavior of Londonites when it comes to fashion is a new experience. I have never lived in any fashion capital of the world where whatever is “in” must be worn by everyone all at once.
For women this Spring, anything in the color white is the must-have of the season. Every newspaper, TV show, and magazine have endless spreads of white apparel and accessories. You’ll never see me wearing any of it.
White is a cursed color. One of Marv’s formal dress shirts has already had to be washed four times although he has yet to wear it even once. The first two times, he found tiny ink marks, the third and fourth, mysterious dirt smudges. Even now, I’m not sure it’s completely free of stains but I have ceased to care.
This season, I’ll be the one wearing pink in our family and Marv’s only allowed to wear white to work.
What colors are you wearing this season?

I’m wearing my usual favourite summer colours: pink (preferably hot) and khaki. They go with everything, including my hair.
I’m all about blue and brown this season.
I don’t follow trends so much as just buy whatever is in the store that doesn’t look like crap on me. I mostly wear black pants and some other color shirt, but NOT WHITE. It gets too dirty too quickly.
Rosie: We would probably match each other on any given day too!
river2sea72: Good choice of colors. They hide stains well.
jenmcd: LOL I think 90% of what I try on in the store looks like crap on me so I totally know what you mean. GAH.
I’m with jenmcd, anything but white. Heather grey is good for those of us getting spit up upon by babies.
I saw this really nice white with light gray pin stripe suit at Zara but I refrained from buying it coz like you said white is a “cursed” colour. The number of times I’ve discovered mysterious spots on my shirts pre-wear is incredible.
Guys in Singapore have been wearing pink for awhile but not all guys can carry it off.
Living in places with no seasons for the last 15 years or so, fashion doesn’t change for me. I have though progressed from blacks and whites to colours! In fact, Friday was the first time in over a year I actually wore all black!
I remember the pink being in for men before I left the US back in 2003….. and think oh goodness no!
Abigail: I loooove any colors in heather. They always look so soft.
Keuq: That Zara suit sounds high maintenance! As for pink on guys…I suppose it’s not all bad but when it starts becoming common, not cool. I guess I hate feeling like I’m following the pack.
Smitha: Somehow black in hot climates make me feel even more hot even when I’m not the one wearing it!
