Autism Quiz

Not sure how accurate this quiz is. Perhaps Adelle or Kristina can tell us.
Take the 50-question quiz to find out where you are on the autism spectrum quotient.
Researchers at Cambridge University’s Autism Research Centre developed this questionnaire to measure autistic traits in adults. Higher scores indicate greater autistic tendencies
I got 16, which is average. Most women score around 15.
Pointer from digg.
NB: The movers are coming in 10 minutes so why am I sitting here blogging? I’m so nervous I feel like hurling.

umm….u just got me worried…..i scored 23…which is above average…..uh oh….
good luck on the moving!! london watch out!!
um, ok, no, i don’t think this is very accurate. i don’t have autism.
I scored 19. I can see some vague Aspberger tendencies in myself. Don’t tell anyone, I try to hide them! I suppose knowing to hide them is an anti-autistic tendency?
I scored 17. Whew!
You’re blogging because you’re nervous! I hope it all goes smoothly!
I got 10, which perhaps explains why I am so useless with the computer!
This frantic activity in the face of oncoming stress is quite normal, I think it’s called dispersal activity, it’s a form of self-protection…Best luck and bon voyage…
laurina: Never mind the quiz.
You are obviously doing very well.
Congogirl: I’m sure we all exhibit some aspects of the autism spectrum. Hope you’re doing well in your new job!
Abigail: I feel so much more relaxed now that the movers have come and gone! Hope I can sleep tonight. Haven’t been able to all week.
Snowy: You nailed the right word - FRANTIC!
I got a 10. I can see what they are after - single minded pursuit of things, tunnel vision, remembering and seeing patterns - typical of Asperger’s which is a high functioning form on the spectrum. But I think the spectrum thing has been so overemphasized that anyone who isn’t in the norm (whatever the norm is) get classed here. I think it does a disservice to true autism. None the less it is an interesting quiz and could be a valuable resource for parents handling behaviors in teens and young adults.
I got a 20 and I guess I’m not surprised. When I have lived completely on my own, I tend to fall into a very rigid routine. I have to somewhat force myself to live a non-anti-social life in order to be “normal”.
I think all my in-laws (David’s siblings) need to take this. I guarantee that most of them would score in the 30’s.
I got 23… I think it’s probably more to do with being a bit obsessive-compulsive and a control freak, as well as being so bossy that I don’t always notice that other people want me to shut up and go away!
Adelle: Thanks so much for letting us know what you think of the quiz.
river2sea72: From what you’ve said about your in-laws, I’d be interested in seeing their scores too!
Rosie: You totally don’t come across that way online! I’ll have to judge firsthand soon.
So, what does it mean if you’re low? I got a 9…
That’s interesting! I scored 18…
Christina: It means you should go to the doctor immediately. Just kidding. I’m not surprised at your low score considering how social you are.
Jane: Explains your success!
Hi Lei, sorry I did not respond until now. I have seen that quiz and prefer not to take it. The quiz draws on the basic criteria for autism as outlined in the DSM-IV and does not take into account how a child might have some of the characteristics listed but be learning not to do them. I guess I feel the quiz can be helpful if parents have concerns about a child having autism, but they should really be talking to an autism professional and at least their pediatrician—what if a parent “scored” a child and concluded that a child did not have autism and did not get the kind of services a child might need soon enough?
My apologies for this rather didactic response.
wow i scored 34. Now I know why I would rather go to my physics class than go socialize during lunch. I can talk with people and i got friends, but its so fricken hard to keep things going. So now that i possibly have autism, what am I supposed to do?
So I got 35, but no1 cud say i have autism. I have tried very hard over the last ten years to ‘fit in’. Have gone from being an anti-social recluse dependent toally on others to a seeming party animal. Its still weird, i dislike most people and have gotten better at hiding it. At least i got educated because of it.
I got 32, but I dunno what I can do about it. At least I still have brains…XD
i got a 27 and i have autism, so….i don’t think this is very accurate.
I’m a seventeen year old girl and I scored a 42 and I have been diagnosed with Asperger’s
