Profile Pics
Posted by Cottontimer on 14 Dec 2005 | Tagged as: Funny, Me, Memes and Quizzes
With all the blogs I’ve been writing lately, I’ve needed a profile pic for almost every one. My selection is limited since there aren’t that many pictures of myself that I like. Finding a profile pic for the more serious blogs is the most difficult because I want to look both respectable and approachable.

From L to R: Genetics and Health, Play Library and
Cotton-Pickin’ Days, and eMothersOnline.
The first picture was taken on a subway train in the San Francisco Bay Area over a year ago, the second was taken this month, and the last earlier this year in Singapore.
I’m not the only one who’s been using the same old picture over and over again. Christina Jones, my friend over at eBeautyDaily, has been using her profile picture for a while too.
What about you? Do you have a favorite multi-purpose profile/user pic? If you don’t mind showing your face (ha!), leave me a link to the pic in the comments or e-mail it to me. I’ll post it up here and we can see whose picture is the oldest!
See below for everyone’s pictures.
Generous Amélie was the first to share her pic!
It was taken in June 2005.
Parentingjoy’s artistic profile pic was taken in June 04.

Saving lives daily, Dr. Enoch Choi of medmusings.

Kristina Chew of Autismland in June 1997
beaming in the presence of her infant son.

Cutiepie Liz from about three years ago.

Blogger and writer extraordinaire John Evans of Syntagma Media
in Spain a few years back.

Gloria’s favorite profile pics were taken in
June 2005 and December 2004.
She sometimes crops just her face in the second.

Ruth’s fun profile pic was taken in 1998.

Newly engaged (congratulations!!) Pei Fen
sometime this year.

river2sea72 and her beautiful family just last month!

If your comment doesn't show up immediately, it's probably in moderation. I will approve it as soon as I can! Thanks for your patience.

I use this picture to show people what I look like. It was taken last June in Vinci in Italy. The best thing about it is that you can’t really see my face
I have a few others but you can never see my face clearly, and that’s on purpose!
Amélie: Last June as in June of 2005? I think I should probably make my whole body unclear for pics. HAHA

This is the image I have been consistently using for both my blog and my website.
Oh forgot to say : I think this was taken around June 04.
parentingjoy: Thanks for playing! I love that pic. It’s so artistic.
I like the middle one! I am sending you a pic of me holding Charlie aged 2 weeks.
KChew: You look so happy in your pic!
You’re so cute in all your pics! Here’s my all-purpose profile pic: http://www.lizardek.com/spotlight/liz.jpg (it’s at least 3 years old)
lizardek: The first word that came to mind when I saw your pic was CUTIEPIE!
i don’t know how to attach it here, so will email you my pic… it’s the one i use for most projects requiring profile pic, but for the same reasons you mentioned, cannot use for my biotech blog
it’s probably the oldest (christina, ‘fess up! how old is that pic), having been taken in 1998, but i had a similar haircut last year, and i swear i look the same… with a few wrinkles here and there, ack!
ruth: If anyone can beat Kristina’s ‘97 pic, I’d be amazed. And I thought I was being bad using one from more than a year back.

i took this a little while ago to remind myself to celebrate my prosperous face, nose, ears … every damn part of me basically! haha.
pei fen: And a beautifully prosperous face it is.
BTW, I was lucky to be able to see that Photobucket pic because it is sometimes blocked in Vietnam.
Hsien, Funny thing about my picture is that’s probably one of a dozen in the intervening 8 years with me in it as I’m the family photographer!
I’ve been meaning to post this to my LJ, it’s our 2005 Annual Letter photo: http://static.flickr.com/28/73532146_749783c2fa_m.jpg
I read this entry with slight envy. I’m still trying to decide on a multi-purpose profile picture. Although I often post pictures of myself, I haven’t found one that I like enough to represent myself as a profile picture.
I getting there though, I’ve taken a few self-portraits with my handy digital camera. At some point, I’ll sort through them and pick one!
Heh … my favorite Sisyphus Father pic: http://static.flickr.com/10/16926921_11dc6970f7.jpg
wo0t! userpics! my face! =D
i love my face, and i would soooo stamp my face on every single entry of mine. but then i realise having a sickly sweet smile on every single entry is quite meaningless, so i put up a really cute (imo) pic of a san-x character. but um, my favorite (and most meaningful) userpic icons would have to be my parents’.
KChew: I usually take all the photos too but the occasional ones that Marv takes often turn out very nice. Whew!
river2sea72: Thanks! That’s a great photo to use. You guys all look so happy and healthy.
marianne: I’ve done the self-portrait thing many times too. Takes about 30 shots to get one I like.
Send one my way if you find one you’d like to share.
mdmhvonpa: Too bad you can’t see that Colin Firth-like face.
laurina: You should totally stamp your face on every post. I wouldn’t mind! I think the second pic you sent me is of your mom, right? So I’ll just put them one up of you.
ARGH! Firth vexes me yet again! And here I was hoping for Max Headroom!
Just spotted this on Technorati and came over to find my ugly mug staring back at me. Ouch.
I think your pics look terrific. Any one of them will do.
John: Thanks for stopping by! I’m honored to have you in our gallery.
Hey CT! I’ve linked you in on Speckblog. I’ve been having a lot of fun with this. Thanks for the inspiration!!
Krissy: Hey! I’ve added your sex-ay pic too.
