Free Tip for Sales Clerks
Posted by Cottontimer on 26 Aug 2005 | Tagged as: Shopping, Vietnam
While out shopping for hair clips today to give to friends on our trip back to California in a week….
Me: Can I see that one with the many many colored (fake) gemstones?
Salesgirl #1: This one? It’s 250,000 VND (~15 USD).
Me: Really? That’s too expensive.
Salesgirl #1: Because there are many stones.
Me: Oh, ok. I see. Well, I don’t want to spend so much money on a hair clip.
Salesgirl #2 jumps out of nowhere and sticks her face in mine: It’s not expensive! It’s got many many stones.
If it weren’t for Salesgirl #1 who I like because she gave Stephen a free rubber wristband, is never pushy, and only suggests certain clips that she thinks suit me, I wouldn’t have bought anything at all today.
Listen, Salesgirl #2. Here’s a tip.
DO NOT CONTRADICT YOUR CUSTOMERS.
If I say it’s expensive, it’s expensive and don’t argue with me about it.
