Stephen as C3PO and I as R2-D2

Stephen the Angel…

  • calls out “Mama” so sweetly that it melts your heart and repeats himself until he can catch your eyes and say it straight into your soul.
  • says “please” whenever he wants something or asks you to do something for him. “Mama, watch robot song pleeeease.”
  • walks befuddled and quietly into the living room after waking from his nap and comments about dinner cooking in the kitchen, “That smells yummy.”
  • laughs uproariously as he splashes bath water from his cup onto the walls, sides of the tub, and floor.
  • makes splendid creations out of blocks and Legos - houses for his grandparents and aunts, a stage for a Lego person to dance on complete with an audience of Lego people, Star Wars Starfighter with R2-D2 seated in the droid socket, and a robot with eyes, nose, mouth, and legs.
  • boogies whenever he hears music even if it’s on the waxed floor of the bowling alley.
  • loves to be C3PO with you sitting on the floor next to him with your knees pulled up to your chest so that you can be his R2-D2.
  • is very bold in the pool - clutches the sides with his hands letting his body and legs float up, jumps right up and doesn’t cry after slipping and going completely under water, is learning to doggy paddle.
  • sleeps well on his own for most of the night (please don’t let this jinx me).

Stephen the Devil…

  • has a fit whenever his precious toys are accidentally bumped out of precise alignment - got upset today when his bowling pins fell over when we were supposed to be playing bowling!
  • screams and cries so much that his voice becomes hoarse.
  • refuses to eat vegetables and fruit more than once or twice weekly.
  • can’t be bothered with the potty unless it suits him.
  • bullies and pummels his mama when he’s unhappy.

It’s easier for me to think of him being an angel than a devil. Guess we’re doing ok after all.
