It took me a week to come up with this list, but I think most people have probably never done the following 10 things.

  1. I’ve rolled down a flight of stairs.
  2. I’ve attended 3 schools at the same time–my high school, local community college, and UC Berkeley.
  3. I’ve been a camp counselor to 6-year-old boys without ever having babysat before.
  4. I’ve electrocuted malaria parasites so that I could stick firefly genes in them.
  5. I’ve lived on a different continent than my husband for the first 4 years of our marriage.
  6. I’ve had hotpot lunches in a genetics lab surrounded by biohazardous materials.
  7. I’ve eaten raw chicken, horse, and carp meat.
  8. I’ve been to a penis (fertility) festival in Japan.
  9. I’ve won a needlepoint kit from an online writing competition.
  10. I’ve nursed a toddler in a car travelling 60 miles an hour while he was in the car seat and I was buckled in.
