A Privileged Life

Stephen wouldn’t stop hounding me this morning. When he finally stopped crying and whining, I talked to him about the privileged life he has compared to other children we know who are about the same age.
Other Kids Stephen Nanny/Maid Mama Rarely go out with their parents and
rarely leave the buildingGoes everywhere with mom and dad Bottles Maju Always walk Always carried Go to school Stays at home Spanked/Beaten Scolded Sleep in own room alone Sleeps with mom and dad
Once I explained this three or four times (so I’m a nag), he started crying again, held his finger to his lips and said with a quivering voice, “Shhhh. Quiet Mama. Nice.” Then he stroked the side of my face gently exactly the way I taught him to touch nice instead of hitting. I hope he’s gained a little appreciation for the nice life he has.
