False Praise

While watching the American Idol 4 audition shows, Marv wondered if all the people there really thought they were good singers.
I think some people must be trying to be weird, obnoxious, or over-the-top so that they get showcased on the audition shows. And others are deluded because their family and friends tell them that they are the most talented people to have ever walked the earth.
These auditions remind me never to give Stephen false hope that he’s something he’s not. Of course I will encourage him to try new things and persevere until he’s sure they’re not for him, but we can’t be good at everything we try and don’t have to be.
Most importantly, I will keep him from making an ass of himself on American Idol.
